Ankeny hires new police chief

112 wordsAll Latest News, Government Policy and LawCity Manager David Jones announced Ankeny is hiring Darius Potts as the chief of police, and will begin his role in August. Potts has 26 years of law enforcement, currently serving as a bureau commander in the Arizona Department of Public Safety, where he has been since 2015. Previously, Potts managed the Human Resources Bureau at Arizona DPS, and served as the interim police chief in El Mirage, Ariz., for three months. Ankeny spent the last several months in a nationwide search for a police chief after Chief Gary Mikulec announced his retirement following 14 years as the chief of police in Ankeny, and more than 44 years in law enforcement.
