Atlas: More moving out of Iowa than in

Iowa remained an “outbound” state in Atlas Van Lines’ latest review of moves — meaning that more than 55 percent of shipments were leaving the state, not coming in.

Not one Midwestern state ranked as “inbound,” but North Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Missouri were considered “balanced,” meaning the shipments going out of state were about the same as those coming in.

Iowa had 779 shipments leave the state, and 609 come in, the company reported.

Across the country, 17 states were designated “outbound,” 10 as “inbound” and the rest as “balanced.”

The biggest losers among the “outbound” states were Illinois, West Virginia, Nebraska, South Dakota, Hawaii, Indiana, Delaware, New York, Louisiana and Kansas.
