AT&T expands program aimed at decreasing high school dropout rate
AT&T Inc. announced a $250 million expansion of a campaign aimed at decreasing high school dropout rates. Iowa schools are encouraged to apply for grants between now and April 18. Applications to pre-qualify for funding can be submitted through the Local High School Impact Initiative Requests for Proposals. The $250 million financial commitment will be rolled out over five years and will build on AT&T Aspire’s commitment of using technology to connect with students in new and more effective ways. Des Moines East High School earned a $10,000 grant under the program in 2010 and plans to submit a grant application. Nationally, AT&T Aspire has invested more than $100 million since 2008, which has helped more than 1 million high school students prepare for success in the workplace and college.
