Eleven contractors have indicated to the city of Des Moines that they intend to be prime bidders for the proposed rehabilitation of the Fleur Drive bridge over the Raccoon River.

The 11 are among 64 companies that have received bidding documents from the city’s engineering department. It’s estimated that the project will cost $1.6 million; it will involve concrete and steel work on the bridge’s supports and surface.

Local companies on the list of prime bidders include United Contractors of Johnston, Herberger Construction Co. Inc. of Indianola, Cramer & Associates Inc. of Grimes, Jenco Construction of Des Moines and McAninch Corp. of West Des Moines.
