Bravo Greater Des Moines is one of 11 organizations across the country that are participating in a national research project looking at cultural consumerism and its impact on the economy.

LitLamp Communications, led by Patricia Martin, is conducting the American Life and Culture Survey, which will provide data to help measure the deep values cultural consumers hold and whether those values are sensitive to broader economic trends. The cultural consumer index created from this research will be updated over time to see how consumer behavior and attitudes change.

Bravo is participating in the survey with organizations including the Arts & Business Council of New York, the LA Stage Alliance and the League of Chicago Theatres. The survey is seeking responses from 1,500 households in 60 days.

Bravo Executive Director MD Isley said the study will give his organization access to cultural data as well as help raise awareness of Des Moines’ cultural scene when the results are published.

“It certainly will help others within the region as well as nationally to realize and understand we are a force within the arts and cultural industry,” he said.
