Buccaneers and arena sold to Urbandale native and other investors

144 wordsAll Latest News, Arts and Culture, Real Estate and DevelopmentThe Des Moines Buccaneers, along with the Urbandale ice arena where they play and that has been part of more than a half-century of hockey lore in Greater Des Moines, have been sold to a former Urbandale native and Buccaneers goaltender, along with other investors, including the managing director of a New York-based private equity firm. According to Polk County property records, an entity called Port Royal Holdings LLC paid $3.2 million on Oct. 9 to Buccaneer Hockey LLC for the arena at 7201 Hickman Road. California real estate developer Gil Peled had been the majority partner in Buccaneer Hockey since 2008. The new owners include former Buccaneers goalie Scott Clemmensen and Michael Devlin, managing director of private equity group Curragh Capital Partners, according to Arena Digest.com. Port Royal Holdings is an entity created by Orchard View Sports and Entertainment of New York.
