Building inspectors honored

124 wordsAll Latest News, Real Estate and DevelopmentTwo Greater Des Moines building inspectors with a combined 67 years on the job have received lifetime achievement awards from the Iowa Association of Building Officials. Maurice Dudney, who retired last month after 38 years with the city of Urbandale, and Rod Van Genderen, who has worked 29 years for the city of West Des Moines and continues to serve as its chief building inspector, received the award. The men were founding members of the Iowa Association of Building Officials, which is the local chapter of the International Code Council. The state group works with the Home Builders Association of Iowa, the American Institute of Architects and the Iowa Civil Rights Commission to host educational opportunities for individuals involved at every level of construction.
