Marsh U.S. ConsumerConnexions will dedicate its new 215,000-square-foot headquarters at 12421 Meredith Drive, Urbandale, tomorrow at 9 a.m. Marsh is the first company to move into the Paragon Office Park, a 250-acre development near Interstate 35/80. The project is expected to include a second building for a total of $20 million in new capital investment.
Theodore Crosbie, vice president of global plant breeding for Monsanto Co., has been named to the board of the Plant Sciences Institute. The institute is focused on helping global and local agriculture meet the increasing demands for food, feed and fuel by advancing innovative plant breeding.
Meredith Corp. announced several editorial changes that were effective yesterday. Sally Lee is the new editor-in-chief of Ladies’ Home Journal, replacing Diane Salvatore, who left Meredith. Lee also was named senior vice president and New York editorial director. She will manage the editorial leadership for Meredith’s key New York-based magazine brands and lead the search for a new editor-in-chief of Parents magazine. In addition, Dan Hickey was named vice president of digital content, Gayle Butler was named senior vice president and Des Moines editorial director, and Jim Blume was named group editor.
August 15 is the deadline for farm operators with no-till or strip-till cropping practices or new grass plantings to sign up to sell carbon credits and still take advantage of a bonus provision that includes credit for 2007 practices. AgraGate Climate Credits Corp., a subsidiary of the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation, collects carbon credits from farmers, ranchers and private forest owners, assembles the credits into large bundles and sells them on the Chicago Climate Exchange. Des Moines International Airport officials said cleanup and reconstruction of the Mesaba Airlines Regional Jet Maintenance Facility started this week; a strong burst of wind took down the steel structure on June 25. The facility could be functional as early as mid-November, six weeks later than originally planned.
Brian Clark + Associates has changed its name to Confluence. The 10-year-old Des Moines-based firm practices landscape architecture, land planning and urban design. The firm’s practices will remain the same, with only the name changing.
A public information meeting on the range of alternatives for the proposed Northwest 26th Street project will take place on July 17 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Snyder & Associates Inc., 2727 S.W. Snyder Blvd., Ankeny. The project seeks to create a four-lane corridor between Interstate 35/80 and Iowa Highway 415, with a new interchange at Interstate 35/80. The meeting will include a presentation and one-on-one question and answer session.
