The By Degrees Foundation announced it has received a $190,000 donation from funds raised in honor of Gov. Kim Reynolds’ inauguration. The foundation was one of four charitable organizations that benefited from the Reynolds-Gregg inauguration fundraising committee. The foundation’s work begins in kindergarten by immersing young scholars in a culture of college and careers, partnering with them to and through high school graduation. The funds will enable it to accelerate its expansion to support even more Central Iowa students, CEO Emily Westergaard said. Formerly an affiliate of the I Have a Dream Foundation, the Des Moines organization in December disaffiliated from the national nonprofit and rebranded as the By Degrees Foundation.
