Rita Conner has resigned as the director of community development for the city of Pleasant Hill to become an economic development coordinator for her hometown, Des Moines.

Conner, 39, worked for Pleasant Hill for the past eight years. She lives in Ames, but said last week that she hopes to relocate here. She fills a position left vacant when Ellen Walkowiak left the city’s office of economic development last summer and moved to Tacoma, Wash.

Conner’s departure follows another recent change in Pleasant Hill’s city government roster. Donald Sandor became city manager in December, moving to Pleasant Hill after 14 years as city manager of Oskaloosa.
