199 wordsAll Latest News, Business Record Insider, Manufacturing, Real Estate and DevelopmentOpus has begun construction of a manufacturing facility for ContiTech at its existing facility in Mount Pleasant, in southeast Iowa.
According to a news release, ContiTech is a group sector of Continental, and the more than 80,000-square-foot facility will integrate production, warehouse and office space to support ContiTech’s hose and belt business, while optimizing the company’s North American mixing footprint.
The facility will include a three-story 17,472-square-foot mixing facility, an automated high-bay warehouse, shipping and receiving, bulk storage and a 4,250-square-foot office and lab space – all linked to the existing facility.
The project was initially envisioned as a structural steel facility, but Opus proposed a pre-cast concrete system to better accommodate the building’s load demands while improving on cost and schedule efficiencies, the release said.
“We look forward to working with Continental as an extension of their worldwide design and management team to deliver a facility that exceeds their expectations and supports their long-term growth goals,” Mike Anthony, director of project management at Opus, said in the release.
Opus is the design-builder on the project and is working with Martin Gardner Architects and Raker Rhodes Engineering.
The project is expected to be complete in June 2027.
