Corn planting still behind
U.S. farmers have planted nearly a fifth of the U.S. corn crop, but are still behind the five-year average, Successful Farming reported. Last year, 32 percent of the corn was in by April 29. This year, the figure stood at 17 percent. Iowa, which had no corn planted the week before, was at 17 percent complete on April 29, off 10 percentage points from average.
