Previously referred to as SpinCo, the seed business will be branded Vylor Inc. According to a news release, the vision for Vylor will be anchored in germplasm and biotechnology innovation, including proprietary hybrid wheat, leadership in gene editing, multi-disease resistant corn and next-generation biofuels. The name is derived from the word “valor,” meant to honor the generations of employees and farmers who have helped feed the world. It also reflects the company’s mindset of vying for every opportunity, according to the release. “Vylor traces its roots back a century, to a single idea: that innovation could transform agriculture, and with it, the world. This belief – in the power of science to advance agriculture and help farmers feed and fuel a growing population – remains our North Star,” said future Vylor CEO Chuck Magro, who was named to the role in April.Â
