DART expands Wi-Fi to all routes
The Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority has added free Wi-Fi to buses on all routes after a successful pilot project. The tests on Route 52 between Des Moines and West Des Moines and Route 98 between Des Moines and Ankeny drew more than 54,000 connections, about 1,300 a week. “We heard from many riders who enjoy the free Wi-Fi access and wanted to see it expanded to every bus,” said Amanda Wanke, DART’s chief external affairs officer. “We hope the addition of free Wi-Fi will not only improve the riding experience for current riders, but also attract new riders who want to be more productive with their commute.” The Wi-Fi will aid new fare boxes on the buses, coming in summer 2018.
