The Des Moines Plan and Zoning Commission voted 7-3 Dec 20 to approve a rezoning request and conceptual plan for Dahl’s Foods after three hours of discussion.

The city staff recommended to the commission 20 changes to the conceptual plan including a restriction on the size of the building.

The commission said the total square footage of the building should be determined by the total number of parking spots.

The Dahl’s conceptual plan shows enough parking for a 60,000-square-foot building. The city council is scheduled to set a public hearing date on the property at its Jan. 7 meeting.
