Disney grant helps Turner Park improve access
Walt Disney Co. provided a grant allowing Des Moines’ Belle Turner Park in Highland Park to get an overhaul that will make new play areas that offer a more inclusive environment. The National Recreation and Park Association administered the grants. The 25 recipients nationally also included Iowa City and Vinton. The grants went to cities that “provided the best ideas for increasing access to inclusive play for children and families in underserved communities.” The program is part of NRPA and Disney’s commitment to provide 1 million kids and families with greater access to play.
