182 wordsAll Latest News, Retail and BusinessThe downtown French-inspired restaurant Django will permanently close this spring, its owners announced Tuesday. “This was a difficult decision for Django’s partners,“ co-owner and Orchestrate Hospitality President Paul Rottenberg said in a prepared statement. “This restaurant has been a part of our lives – and our city’s culinary landscape – for the better part of two decades. … However, today’s unique combination of market and economic conditions have created significant headwinds that prevent Django from profitably creating great guest and employee experiences.” Django’s final day of service is scheduled for March 14. The restaurant opened in May 2008 in the Hotel Fort Des Moines. Quickly garnering local and national attention, Django was a “Best New Restaurant” nominee for the James Beard Awards in 2009. When the hotel was sold and closed for renovation, Django relocated to its Locust Street location across from the Pappajohn Sculpture Park in August 2018. Orchestrate Hospitality is working with employees to identify new opportunities within the company’s portfolio for those interested.
