Des Moines native Emily Toribio, vice president of marketing and communications at the Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines, has been recognized as one of Des Moines Area Community College’s 2025 Outstanding Alumni Award recipients. A 2004 liberal arts graduate, Toribio is honored for more than two decades of leadership in strategic communications, philanthropy and community engagement across Central Iowa. At the Community Foundation, she oversees brand storytelling that connects donors with regional causes. Her career also includes roles with the city of Des Moines, Iowa Finance Authority, Fareway Stores, Broadlawns Medical Center and numerous volunteer organizations. “Emily embodies the spirit of DMACC by helping others in any capacity she can,” Kristi Knous, president of the Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines, said in a prepared statement. “She is a wonderful role model and example of what a DMACC graduate can do to better our community.”
