Donation adds 140 bike racks to Des Moines park system

100 wordsAll Latest News, Arts and Culture, Nonprofits and PhilanthropyThrough a $40,000 donation from Carol Maher, founder of Ride On Des Moines, 140 new bike racks have been funded and installed throughout the Des Moines Parks and Recreation system. “Carol stepped in and provided the resources to implement over a third of the bike racks needed citywide,” Derek Hansen, Des Moines Parks and Recreation park planner, said in a prepared statement. “Visionary partners like Carol allow us to get things done for the community.” Ride On Des Moines is a local group that promotes biking as a mode of transportation and advocates for infrastructure for safer riding.
