Drake University and the American Diabetes Association of Central Iowa will host a free community event on Dec. 2 to raise awareness of diabetes, a disease that affects nearly 10 percent of the U.S. population. The 2017 Central Iowa Diabetes Event & Walk from 9 a.m. to noon will feature a panel discussion with experts from Drake University, Des Moines University and the Iowa Diabetes and Endocrinology Research Center, a wellness expo with 15 exhibitors and children’s activities, and a community walk to stop diabetes. Participants who donate or raise $30 will receive a commemorative Stop Diabetes T-shirt. More information and optional pre-registration is available here.
