Drake University launches joint law and education graduate degree program
Drake University has announced a new joint degree program between its Law School and School of Education, allowing students to earn a Juris Doctor alongside either a Doctor of Philosophy in Education or a Doctor of Education in Leadership on an integrated five- to six-year track. Set to begin in fall 2026, the program aims to prepare graduates for leadership roles in education policy, administration and academia by combining legal training with advanced educational research. Enrollment requires separate admission to both schools, with students beginning full-time law study before transitioning to concurrent coursework. “The partnership between the Law School and the School of Education reflects Drake’s commitment to interdisciplinary innovation,” Roscoe Jones, dean of the Drake University Law School, said in a press release. “We are fostering a collaborative environment where legal theory and educational research meet to help shape the next generation of education policy and legal professionals.”
