Dress for Success launches capital campaign
Dress for Success Des Moines, a nonprofit that serves women entering the workforce, has launched a capital campaign to raise $285,000. Dress for Success Des Moines supports unemployed or underemployed women in Central Iowa by giving them the resources to find and sustain gainful employment. During its 11 years of operation, Dress for Success has served nearly 3,000 women. The mission of Dress for Success Des Moines goes beyond providing professional clothing. The staff and volunteers provide resume and interview assistance, skill building and training, and continued support and encouragement through its Professional Women’s Group, which helps women sustain employment, grow in their career, and balance the challenges of work and home. Last summer, the nonprofit moved from a location in Des Moines to 7025 Hickman Road in Urbandale. The organization spent more than $200,000 to buy the space and renovate it. The new location better accommodates clients, volunteers and incoming donations, according to a news release. The capital campaign, called Circles of Success, will be used to pay for additional capital costs and operational needs. Read more about the campaign in Fearless.
