The proposed e300 building in the East Village makes its first steps toward construction.

The site plan for Nelson Development’s mixed-use building at 230 E. Grand Ave. was approved at the Nov. 15 Des Moines Plan and Zoning Commission meeting.

The building will house 80 apartments and 12,000 square feet of office and retail space. Nelson Development is looking to break ground by the end of this year.

The project is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2008.
