The Greater Des Moines metropolitan area has been ranked the No. 2 top-performing mid-sized metro for economic development in Site Selection Magazine’s 2025 Governor’s Cup. The annual rankings evaluate new and expanded corporate investment activity across U.S. regions. Greater Des Moines was recognized among other metros of 200,000 to 1 million residents for 37 qualifying projects totaling more than $2.5 billion in capital investment. Lehigh Valley, Pa., topped the ranking. “This ranking reflects the volume and quality of projects happening across our region and demonstrates that Greater Des Moines is competing — and winning — on a national stage,” Stacie LoVan, senior vice president of economic development at the Partnership, said in a news release.
