The initiative aims to improve access to follow-up care for infants who do not pass initial hospital hearing screenings by collaborating with birthing centers and health care providers statewide to identify families in need. As part of the program, an audiology health navigator will assist families with scheduling appointments, overcoming transportation and system barriers, and connecting to medical, educational, and community resources, with the goal of improving timely diagnosis and care during critical early stages of development.
