Fareway Stores Inc. has donated about 69,000 pounds worth of ham to the Food Bank of Iowa, Food Bank of Siouxland in Sioux City and River Bend Food Bank in Davenport, the grocery retailer announced. An estimated 3,300 of the hams are being distributed to food pantries in 55 counties served by the Food Bank of Iowa; the remaining 2,200 hams are being divided between the food banks in Sioux City and Davenport. The retail value of this donation is nearly $300,000. The donation is expected to provide 276,000 servings of ham for Iowans facing hunger.
