Farmers Insurance this month launched an innovative all-in-one food truck insurance policy in Iowa, marking the company’s first foray into the growing food truck insurance marketplace. Through its new offering, Farmers has begun to offer licensed food truck owners a single policy that combines commercial automobile coverage for their truck with a restaurant business owner policy. Currently, food truck owners are often left to work with a complex mixture of separate policies, including commercial auto, business owner and restaurant policies provided by different insurers. The company said that Iowa is one of 28 states where the policy is now available to food truck entrepreneurs. An Iowa Insurance Division spokesman said the agency doesn’t track these types of packaged policies, so it’s difficult to know whether Farmers is first to market with the offering.
