Iowa State University has selected three design-build teams from 11 applicants for a $28 million addition to the Gerdin Business Building at the Ivy College of Business, according to a release. The teams are M.A. Mortenson Co./OPN Architects and ZGF, Opus Design Build LLC and Story Construction with BNIM architects. A final selection will occur in October. Construction of the 40,000-square-foot addition will begin in spring 2019 with completion in 2021. The addition will include more classrooms, computer labs, a multipurpose space and study areas, along with more faculty offices. The addition of new programs and a 40 percent increase in enrollment has necessitated the expansion, which was made possible by a $7 million commitment from the Gerdin Charitable Foundation, according to the release.
