Floods delay fertilizer shipments

Railroads also have been disrupted. A harsh winter and widespread floods already have stressed the farm economy. If fertilizer applications are missed or poorly timed, yields could suffer. Also, shippers could face lost profits and higher penalties for returning barges and rail cars.
