Gerber parent finds more mouths to feed
Nestle SA said today it will buy Pfizer Inc.’sinfant nutrition business for $11.85 billion in a deal that would cement its leading position in the global baby-formula market. Nestle also owns Gerber Products Co. The Swiss food maker estimates the acquired business’s 2012 sales at $2.4 billion, with 85 percent of Pfizer Nutrition’s sales in emerging markets, many of them with large, fast-growing populations.
