A group of supporters led by the Des Moines Area Metropolitan Planning Organization has set a couple of meetings to provide information on plans for area water trails. An engineering study has wrapped up, setting the stage for an adventure park in downtown Des Moines along with many other recreational improvements at 86 sites along 150 miles of Central Iowa waterways in 14 cities and counties. “The Dam Plan” calls for kayaking, canoeing, birdwatching, fishing and other activities. It will be detailed at meetings beginning at noon and at 5 p.m. June 21 in a meeting room on the ground level of Capital Square. Each meeting will include a short presentation, panel discussion with regional leaders, and an open house allowing attendees to ask questions. Information is available here
