Throughout June, donations of nonperishable food donations will be accepted at the nine metro Goodwill of Central Iowa locations to support the Des Moines Area Religious Council Food Pantry Network. The campaign aims to address increased food insecurity during summer months when school meal access declines, particularly affecting people under the age of 18, who made up one-third of those served by DMARC in 2025. Organizers are prioritizing items such as peanut butter, cereal and canned fruit in 100% juice. More information on preferred donation items can be found online. The Central Iowa Goodwill stores will have a special “Red Barrel” collection site at their donation doors.
