Great Outdoors Foundation, Microsoft invest in water quality initiatives at Legacy Woods Nature Sanctuary

A grant from the foundation’s Conservation Acceleration Fund is funding the work, with additional support from the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship and other partners. The stormwater wetland portion will use multiple conservation methods to manage runoff from 12 surrounding acres. The prairie restoration will enhance biodiversity, soil health, and nutrient cycling while contributing to long-term water quality improvements, a news release said. A ceremonial groundbreaking is planned for this spring, with conservation element completed over the next two years in tandem with the project.
