The end-of-year numbers for Greater Des Moines house sales reflect a market that advanced in all key measures over 2014.

House sales were up 11.4 percent from the previous year, with 12,932 sales compared with 11,451 sold in 2014. In December, home sales were up 12 percent from November, the Des Moines Area Association of Realtors said in a release.

The median sales price advanced to $165,000 from $152,200 the previous year.

Houses sold in an average of 74 days last year, down from 93 in 2014, and the number of homes on market dropped to approximately 3,300 compared with more than 3,750 in 2014.

“The biggest sector was new construction, and the future is very bright for home builders with all the pent-up demand for new construction,” Robin Polder, president of the Realtors group, said in a release. “The only thing that can slow this growth is the shortage of construction workers.”

Areas with the most sales were Ankeny, West Des Moines and the northwest section of Des Moines.
