195 wordsAll Latest News, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Retail and BusinessAfter 30 years, Grounds for Celebration changed ownership on Thursday. George and Jan Davis opened their flagship store in the Beaverdale neighborhood in 1994 followed by a location in Windsor Heights in 2002. They also operated an onsite location at Iowa Clinic in West Des Moines. “When we started Grounds, we wanted to create a place for neighbors to stop in, relax and enjoy a high quality and uniquely roasted coffee with beans from around the world and we’re excited that the Grounds tradition will continue,” said George Davis in a prepared statement. The new owners are Abigail and Ryan Russell and Julianna Biedenfeld. When the Russells moved to Des Moines, they landed in Beaverdale and Abigail Russell began working as a barista at Grounds. “This has been a dream of ours for years,” Ryan Russell said in a prepared statement. “When the opportunity came along to preserve and grow a neighborhood coffee shop that we love, we knew it was the perfect way to bring our passion for coffee together with our love of communities like Beaverdale and Windsor Heights.” The Russells also own Coffee Hop, a local coffee shop pass business.
