The Harkin Institute is partnering with Winefest Des Moines to host a Dining in the Dark event, presented by the Weinhardt Law Firm, at 6 p.m. Nov. 16 at the Tom and Ruth Harkin Center in Des Moines. Dining in the Dark will feature a three-course dinner with wine pairings. During one of the courses, participants will wear blindfolds to enhance their senses other than sight to explore food and wine. The intent is for participants to gain firsthand experience of the impact that universal design brings in addressing the challenges faced by people with disabilities in the workforce and daily life, according to a news release. Purveyor Catering will provide the food for the three-course meal, and the selection of wines will be from sommelier Abbe Davidson.
