A building permit was issued in April for the construction of a data center in Microsoft Corp.’s Ginger West campus at 11100 Booneville Road in West Des Moines, a Business Record review of city permits shows.

The permit was among 17 issued for new projects in the Greater Des Moines area, the review shows. The value of the new permits is estimated at over $661.5 million.

Development of Ginger West, located on about 188 acres, began in 2021 and is expected to be completed by summer 2028, information on Microsoft’s blog says. The newest data center in Ginger West will be 194,962 square feet. The project is valued at $590 million. Turner Construction Co. is the project’s general manager.
