Holmes Murphy & Associates’ move into the Arcadia building in West Des Moines will allow the company to continue to grow in first-class space where employees are proud to work, said Tom Stewart, president of PLUS Holmes Murphy.

It’s been a little over two weeks since Holmes Murphy moved about 270 employees into its new offices at 7000 Vista Drive, and so far, the space is getting rave reviews, Stewart said.

“Everybody is super, super happy,” he said. “We did a bunch of fun stuff to get everybody jazzed about being there and I hear people say they love it more than our current building.

“We’re just so happy and pleased and we’re hearing great feedback from our employees who are there,” Stewart said.

Holmes Murphy’s office at 2727 Grand Prairie Parkway in Waukee will remain its headquarters, with employees in human resources, legal and corporate marketing among those who were relocated to the Arcadia building.

Holmes Murphy employs more than 1,200 people across 17 offices, including the Arcadia building.

Holmes Murphy announced in January that it had signed a lease for 75,000 square feet on the second floor of the building, which is owned by R&R Realty Group.

The 270,000-square-foot Arcadia building was built in 1993 and was home to Wells Fargo’s credit card servicing division until 2023. R&R Realty Group renovated the four-story building, changing the color of its exterior, installing a giant video board inside the front entrance and transforming a parking lot on the building’s south side into a park-like setting that features walking trails, pickleball courts, a putting green and gathering spaces. R&R also contracted with New Horizon Academy to provide on-site day care.

Stewart said many of those amenities made the Arcadia attractive for Holmes Murphy, which signed a five-year lease.

Holmes Murphy’s Arcadia offices also allow for greater collaboration than they may have had at the Waukee office, he said.

“Just having that collaborative space, we’re in the people business so being able to do that in-person as opposed to Zoom is really important,” Stewart said. “That’s the way people get trained, there’s mentorship going on, so it’s important to have people in the office to support them. We have a great working space and collaborative space for them to work together.”

Stewart said the Arcadia building helped Holmes Murphy meet its growth and culture goals.

“We’ve been lucky and fortunate to be growing at a pretty fast clip, and this allows us to hire new people and maintain that culture where people truly want to come work for us. It will allow us to continue that growth in a facility where people are proud to go to work every day.”
