140 wordsAll Latest News, Real Estate and DevelopmentRichard Hurd has turned out the lights on his investment along Eighth Street in West Des Moines, a property he bought in 2009 when, as he has noted previously with the Business Record, “there was a lot of dark property” along the busy street. With the recent sale of a Kum & Go at 1293 Eighth (see Notable Transactions below), his plan to redevelop and sell what was once the site of Quality Ford has come to a successful conclusion. The history: The first Dunkin’ Donuts in Greater Des Moines opened at the site. The Kum & Go was built and, at the very beginning, UnityPoint was lined up as an anchor tenant for the former Quality Ford building. The balance of that building, which also has been sold, is occupied by a mix of retail and office tenants.
