Des Moines Register: Hy-Vee grocery stores are ending 24-hour service at most locations throughout the 265-store chain, including the Des Moines metro, beginning Feb. 10. “Customer traffic drops off overnight, so we made the decision to relocate the shifts to better accommodate our customers and the lives of our team members,” said Christina Gayman, Hy-Vee spokeswoman. No jobs will be lost in all the transition. Most of the 24-hour stores will be closed between midnight and 5 a.m., though hours will vary by location. The stores will still have stock crews working overnights, but the stores will no longer be open to the public.
