A logistics company and a farm equipment manufacturer have been awarded tax incentives totaling more than $1.4 million for projects that will create more than 140 jobs.

The awards to WorldWide Logistics of Urbandale and Unverferth Manufacturing Co. Inc., of Butler County, were approved Friday by the Iowa Economic Development Authority board.

According to IEDA documents, WorldWide Logistics received more than $808,000 in investment tax credits and sales, service, use tax refunds to build the company’s headquarters on 22 acres in Urbandale. The 76,000-square-foot building will be two stories with room for 600 employees.

Worldwide Logistics arranges transportation of freight and logistics services across the country, with a growing international presence.

The project will also receive a 10-year, 90% tax increment finance package in the amount of $2.049 million from the city of Urbandale. It will create 111 jobs, 11 of which will pay a qualifying wage of $27.57 per hour.

The budget for the project is more than $17.2 million, board documents show.

Construction is scheduled to be complete in September 2022.

Unverferth Manufacturing Co. Inc. was awarded nearly $650,000 in investment tax credits, sales service, use, tax refunds and research activities credits.

The Kalida, Ohio-based manufacturer of farm equipment is planning a 43,500-square-foot expansion of its operation in Shell Rock. According to IEDA documents, the expansion will allow the company to increase production of grain carts, fertilizer spreaders and sprayers.

The more than $11.8 million project will create 30 jobs, all of which will pay a qualifying wage of $20.20 per hour.

The project also will receive a five-year sliding scale tax abatement for an amount to be determined from the Butler County Board of Supervisors.

Construction is scheduled to begin in the fourth-quarter of this year, with completion scheduled for the fourth quarter 2022.
