IEDA approves $5.7M in tax credits for 4 manufacturing projects statewide

343 wordsAll Latest News, Economic Development, Economic IndicatorThe Iowa Economic Development Authority board has approved tax credits for four companies with projects that represent over $100.8 million in investment and the creation of 87 jobs.
The awards approved by the IEDA board Friday include:
- $600,000 to HawkeyePedershaab Concrete Technologies Inc., doing business as Afinitas, to build a 30,000-square-foot addition in Mediapolis in southeast Iowa and to reconfigure its current facility and add new automated machining and material handling systems. The company plans to create 15 jobs. The expansion is estimated to cost $12 million, IEDA documents show. The company makes products, such as pipe, manholes and box culverts.
- $93,000 in tax credits to Advanced Heat Treat Corp. to build an 18,000-square-foot expansion of its facility in Waterloo. The company provides commercial heat-treating services for the agriculture, automotive, oil, energy and construction sectors. The products improve the strength and wear resistance of steel parts before they are assembled into final products. No new jobs will be created from the project, which has an estimated cost of $5.03 million.
- $2.6 million in tax credits to Edible Garden to convert an existing facility in Webster City into a high-capacity beverage plant. The New Jersey-based company plans to repurpose a former aquaculture, shrimp production facility, to produce shelf-stable, ready-to-drink plant and dairy-based beverages. The project is estimated at $75 million. The company plans to create 42 jobs. Webster City plans to grant a 15-year Tax Increment Finance incentive valued at $6.5 million.
- $440,000 in tax credits to Walsh Door & Security to expand its offices and invest in advanced manufacturing equipment. The company makes premium commercial doors, frames, hardware and integrated electronic security systems. It primarily serves general contractors for large-scale commercial construction projects. IEDA documents show the company plans to add 30 jobs. The project is estimated to cost about $8.8 million.
- In other action, the IEDA board awarded funding to 39 manufacturers through the 2026 Manufacturing 4.0 Technology Investment Program. Awards totaled $1.97 million and will help small- and mid-sized manufacturers invest in the adoption and integration of smart technologies.
