IEDA awards $6.18 million for community improvement projects
The Iowa Economic Development Authority has announced more than $6 million in Community Development Block Grant funds for projects in 18 Iowa communities. According to a news release, awards were granted for water, sewer and stormwater infrastructure improvements, housing rehabilitation, and employment-related transportation projects. The grants were awarded based on the benefit to low-to-moderate-income residents, financial need, project impact and readiness and commitment of local resources to a project. The list of projects includes $600,000 for youth facility improvements in Cerro Gordo County, $600,000 for wastewater system improvements in Maquoketa, $600,000 for water treatment system improvements in Creston, $500,000 to Glidden for day care activities, and $500,000 for stormwater infrastructure improvements in Osceola.
