IMF approves 28 billion-euro bailout for Greece
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) approved a 28 billion-euro bailout for Greece today, Reuters reported. In a brief statement, the IMF said it would immediately disburse 1.65 billion euros to Athens to help keep Greece funded until 2014. The IMF approval marks the end of several months of uncertainty for Greece, which secured the package after agreeing to strict austerity measures and completing a debt swap with private creditors.
