Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig is currently leading a 16-member trade mission delegation to Japan and South Korea, aimed at expanding trade and investment opportunities in the food and agriculture industry, according to a press release.

Iowa companies exported $1.8 billion in goods to Japan and $886 million to South Korea in 2022. The delegation, coordinated by the Iowa Economic Development Authority, includes Iowa companies involved in meat and food processing, and representatives from various agricultural associations. The mission includes trade policy discussions, information sessions with leading organizations, and meetings with ag industry representatives on business development opportunities.

In addition, the delegation celebrated “Iowa Agriculture and BBQ Day” in Tokyo by presenting a proclamation commemorating the day to Japanese ag industry leaders.
