Iowa beef producers voting on state checkoff

A Nov. 30 referendum will decide whether beef producers will approve a 50-cent-per-animal refundable beef checkoff to support marketing and research. The fee would be assessed beginning March 1 but would be refunded upon request. The fee would be in addition to the $1 per animal federal checkoff fee. Any individual, firm, corporation, partnership or association that has owned or acquired cattle during year prior to the referendum is eligible to vote. Get a ballot here.
