Central Iowa businessmen Glenn De Stigter, chairman of The Weitz Co., and David Miller, retired chairman and CEO of West Bancorporation Inc., are among four business leaders who will be inducted into the Iowa Business Hall of Fame at the Greater Des Moines Committee’s annual Black Tie dinner on Thursday night, an invitation-only event.

Joe Crookham and Myron Gordin, co-owners of Oskaloosa-based Musco Lighting, also will be honored.

De Stigter started with Weitz as a project engineer in 1968. He became president and CEO in 1992. He has served on several local boards, including the Wells Fargo Bank Iowa N.A. Community Board, United Way of Central Iowa, Polk County Taxpayers Association and the Greater Des Moines Better Business Bureau.

Miller began his tenure at West Bank in 1961 as a vice president. He was named president in 1968 and continued to hold top positions with the company for the next three decades. Miller has served on the board of trustees and the board of governors at Drake University as well as on the boards of many economic, civic and business organizations, including the Greater Des Moines Chamber of Commerce Federation, Greater Des Moines Convention and Visitors Bureau, Des Moines Development Corp., Mercy Medical Center, Civic Center of Greater Des Moines and West Des Moines Chamber of Commerce.

Crookham and Gordin became business partners in 1968 and in 1976 purchased a bankrupt lighting manufacturer in Muscatine. That company, Musco Lighting, now provides lighting for professional sporting events in locations around the world.

The Greater Des Moines Committee founded the Iowa Business Hall of Fame in 1975 to honor the achievements of Iowans who have made outstanding contributions to the development and enhancement of the state’s business climate.
