The Iowa Cable and Telecommunications Association (ICTA) has announced that Executive Vice President Bill Peard will retire Feb. 15 after serving in the role since 2014. Clara Wulfsen, an attorney with Carney & Appleby PLC in Des Moines, will succeed Peard as executive director of the ICTA. Wulfsen has experience in federal, state and local government relations as well as association management, a news release said. During his time with ICTA, Peard helped foster relationships with federal, state and local leaders that allowed ICTA members to expand broadband networks throughout Iowa and foster economic development opportunities across the state, the release said. Peard’s 23 years of experience in the cable and broadband industry included 13 years as senior manager of government relations at Mediacom. “Bill’s exemplary model of servant leadership has inspired leaders throughout our entire organization,” ICTA Board Chair Steve Purcell said in a prepared statement. “He served as mayor of the city of Waukee for 14 years and led the economic growth of one of Iowa’s fastest growing cities. Thanks to Bill’s elected official background and strong political relationships, Bill has led the association and industry growth. As a result, we’re very well positioned for a smooth leadership transition.”
