The Iowa Department of Education announced it is seeking local sponsors for the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Summer Food Service Program, which provides free, nutritious meals and snacks to children and teens in low-income areas during the summer months. The program, also known as SUN Meals, served more than 3 million meals at over 500 sites across Iowa last year, including schools, parks, libraries and community centers. Typical sponsors include schools, nonprofits, colleges, camps and government agencies, with options for both on-site and to-go meal services.
