Iowa International Center to recognize Passport to Prosperity honorees
The Iowa International Center has announced its 2018 Passport to Prosperity honorees: Barwaqo Aden, a former refugee who is now assistant director for Nisaa African Family Services, which she helped establish; Mirza Kudic, a Bosnian immigrant who joined the U.S. Army in 2003 and is a nationally recognized photographer; and Albert Liu, who moved to Iowa in 1994 as an immigrant from China and is currently director of international business development with Kent Corp. The three individuals were recognized for their economic, cultural and social achievements in Iowa. They will be honored during the Passport to Prosperity Gala scheduled Oct. 13 at Drake University’s Olmsted Building. Proceeds from the event support the work of the Iowa International Center and the organization’s Ray Sustainability Initiative that provides language resources.
